PROJECT RUNWAY!

Eep! My one television vice finally graced the airwaves again! Season 5 of Project Runway premiered tonight! Boy, was it an interesting one. I must say, one of my favorite aspects of Project Runway (aside from the amazing designs, of course) are the personalities. I admit, I couldn't get enough of Santino, of Christian's "fierce", of "WHERE THE HELL IS MY CHIFFON?!?!", of "If you're gonna cry, you're gonna cry and cut." So...I definitely am pleased with most of the people.

SO let's do the negative first, of course, and end on a positive note.
1) I didn't like that there were so many "established" designers. One designer already owned his own company, several designers owned their own stores, some dressed movie stars and rock stars already. I don't think these people need to be on Project Runway. I think the people who need to be on Project Runway are the ones working to pay their bills and trying to rub two pennies together. In my opinion, if you own your own store or company, or you dress stars, you don't need Project Runway.
2) CATCHPHRASES GALORE. Good lord, I felt like everybody was trying to get on the fierce train. You're not going to be the next reality TV star from one episode, kiddies.
3) There were some pretty horrendous looks. I'm not just talking about the bottom 3 here -- I mean we all new American Psycho raincoat guy was going home -- but there were several in the "safe" zone that I thought were bad too. Also, talk about overconfidence! Several designers said, "I KNOW my look looks good." They must've been blind, because some of those looks were pretty atrocious. Don't get too comfortable!

However, I really do feel like there are a lot of talented designers. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the cup dress, and the dress that won. Both of those designers definitely have potential! Plus, I'm looking forward to this season -- anytime Tim Gunn has to say "holla at cha boy" or "it looks like a pterodactyl from gay Jurassic Park"...I know it's going to be good.
